Baltimore Orioles’ third baseman Manny Machado is ready to play! Actually, he was ready to play yesterday, but the band of bad weather that dumped 22 inches of positively biblical rain on Pensacola, FL has forced the postponement of two successive games in Baltimore, so he hasn’t yet taken the field. He should be able to play tomorrow afternoon.

Have you forgotten that face?

And that grace?

Machado has been rehabbing playing High-A ball in Frederick, Maryland. Machado went 8-for-12 in three games — including two at third base — with Frederick over the weekend.

“Felt good, felt great,” Machado said about his time with Frederick. “Body feels good. Needed to work on some things, got it done. Now it’s just go on to the next step. It’s all about steps. I thought I was physically and mentally ready to come up here and be part of this team again. Here I am.”

Can he improve on last year’s heroics? Can’t wait to find out. My goodness he’s a joy to watch play.
